SupPAWt Squad & Vets & Dogs – Community Programs by Planet K9
Planet K9 is proud to deliver two unique community programs that bring people and dogs together to promote connection, wellbeing, and positive social engagement throughout Melbourne's western suburbs.
SupPAWt Squad is a volunteer pet therapy and community outreach program that partners with aged care facilities, community organisations, and local groups to host morning teas, special events, and community gatherings. Accompanied by their friendly, well-mannered dogs, volunteer handlers help create opportunities for social connection, companionship, conversation, and joy. Through meaningful interactions and canine companionship, SupPAWt Squad helps reduce social isolation and brings smiles to residents, clients, staff, and community members alike.
Vets and Dogs – Training Dogs. Building Community. Supporting Veterans.
Vets and Dogs is a collaborative program between Planet K9, the Spotswood–Kingsville RSL, and RSL Active, designed to support the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of defence and service veterans through hands-on dog training. Combining practical dog training skills, basic manners, and agility activities, this five-week course provides a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where veterans can build confidence, strengthen the bond with their dogs, develop new skills, and connect with others who share similar experiences.
Together, SupPAWt Squad and Vets and Dogs reflect Planet K9's commitment to strengthening communities through the human-animal bond. By creating opportunities for connection, learning, wellbeing, and inclusion, these programs demonstrate the powerful positive impact that dogs can have in people's lives.
